Every player knows the feeling. The serve lands, the putt drops, the pressure lifts — and you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding.
That release has a sound. We named the brand after it: SY — the quiet sigh of a point well won. The 19th hole. The changeover. The moment the hard part is finally behind you.
The name behind itSY is also a name. It's short for Silent — mine.
It's an unusual name, and people always ask what it means. So I tell them the truth.
I was born just after my parents lost their first son — my brother Per — when he was still a baby, barely walking and not yet talking. For a long time the house was full of crying, and then it went quiet. When I arrived, that quiet changed: from grief into relief, from mourning into something like peace. Silent is golden, my parents said. They named me for the comfort I brought, and everyone simply called me SY.
I've spent my life trying to live up to that — to be a comfort to people. Building SY is how I do it now. A life lived for two.
